Elfreds Southern Fried Chicken

A beautiful recipe for crispy and succulent Southern Fried Chicken

  • 1.5 Kg Chicken pieces
  • 250 ml Water
  • 2 tbsp Black Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 200 gr Plain Flour
  • 1 Packet Elfreds Southern Fried Chicken Spice
  • 200 ml Oil


  • In a shallow bowl mix the water and the Black Sauce and Soy Sauce. Leave to marinade for at least 12 hours.
  • Mix 1 packet of ELFREDS SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN with the flour and place in a clean dry plastic bag.
  • One at a time dip the chicken pieces into the flour mix, letting the excess water drain off. Shake in the flour. Shake off the excess flour and fry in hot oil.
  • If you desire a more crunchy batter repeat the water and seasoned flour procedure again before frying.
  • They will take about 20 to 25 minutes to fry depending on the size. For a crunchy finish; but a juicy piece of chicken, after frying the chicken for 10 min in the hot oil. Place the chicken on a wire cooling rack over a baking tray in the oven on amoderate heat and bake for 15 to 20 mins depending on the size of the chicken pieces.
